December 30, 2008 - The City of Smyrna Police Department takes

delivery of the first of 12  C-Comm equipped 2009 Patrol Vehicles!

"Once again, our quality installations and dedication to our customers shows to be solid - 12 new Patrol vehicles for the City of Smyrna." - John R. Carmichael - President/Owner

This is the first of 12 new patrol vehicles.  It is assigned to a very dedicated, hard working, very deserving officer in the S.T.E.P. unit (Selective Traffic Enforcement Patrol).  Officer Owens is a very productive, dedicated, and integral part of the Smyrna Police Department.  He has driven a 2003 Chevrolet Impala for the last several years.  We sat down with Officer Owens and designed the best warning package for his special duties in the STEP unit.  Here is what we came up with;

  • Front Warning

Whelen 3 Lamp Linear Inner Edge, Talon-ID "POLICE" LED dash light, Whelen 500 TIR6 split blue/clear mirror beam LEDs, Whelen PAR36 TIR6 push bumper LEDs, Whelen hide-a-way corner strobes, Whelen Headlight flasher, and Whelen 500 TIR6 split blue/clear push bumper LEDs

  • Side & Rear Warning

Whelen 500 TIR6 Vertical LEDs on side prisoner transport cage.

2 Whelen TIR6 Slimlighters mounted high in rear window (driver's side light has one steady burn amber TIR6), Whelen D8 Dominator set on "fast zig zag" pattern, 2 Whelen Dual Talons on either side of 3rd brake light, 2 Whelen hide-a-way strobes in empty red lens below brake/turn/tail assembly, and 2 Whelen LIN4 split blue/clear LEDs on the license plate bracket.

For the 800 MHz radio antenna, we used the new Phantom slim antenna - looks like the "shark fin" seen on most new model vehicles!

For the interior of the vehicle, we have. . . .

Havis Shields C-1800 equipment console with fold up arm rest and dual cup holder.  Havis Shields dual mic clip bracket on dash, Gamber Johnson Toughbook docking station, Motorola XTL-2500 800 Mhz radio remote head, Whelen 295SL100 siren with ScanLock siren tones, and Whelen PCCHD1 switch box.

Also on the interior, but not pictured, Panasonic Arbitrator digital camera system, Tremco anti-theft device, Whelen siren "park kill" module, and a hidden pattern selector button for the Inner Edge.

You can't notice in the pictures, but we ALWAYS take the extra time to utilize the "Sync" feature on all Whelen LEDs we install.  On this vehicle, the 2 push bumper mounted TIR6 LEDs are "criss-cross" synched with the two Mirror Beam LEDs.
