August 10, 2008 - The City of Alpharetta Police Department takes delivery of their 2 C-Comm equipped 2008 Chevrolet Impala Traffic Units.
"We are very appreciative for the opportunity to gain the City of Alpharetta as one of our newest Customers. A very special Thank You to Lieutenant J.T. Simpson of the Traffic Unit, Welcome aboard!" - John R. Carmichael - President/Owner Here are the specifications for their emergency light/sound package we selected:
Rear deck has 2 Avengers (1 blue, 1 amber) and the upper deck is two Talons - Blue/Blue.
Whelen LIN3 (white/white) on Havis Shields Universal tag mounting bracket. We also utilized the built in OEM tail lamp flasher from Chevrolet. This feature is built into the lighting control module of the car. By default, it will only activate and flash the tail lamps/reverse lamps when the aftermarket headlight flasher is activated. This feature is excellent extra rear warning power, but it should only work when the REAR lights are activated. At C-Comm 911, long ago we discovered a solution to activate the tail lamp flasher independent of the headlight flasher. Let's say you are on a traffic stop doing your SFST's, you would obviously want as many rear flashing lights as possible, but no flashing headlights to interfere with the SFST's. At C-Comm, we take the extra time and step, to make this certain feature more "Officer Friendly."
Never doubt the awesome effectiveness of the Talon (now the Avenger) and the Slimlighhters - a good mix of TIR and Linear LEDs spread the spectrum of the light path!
Front windshield Slimlighter Blue/Blue, Talon - Blue/Blue on the dash, and TIR6 Mirror Beam LEDs. (The mirror beams were later swapped out for split Blue/White Linear LEDs, and were synched with the push bumper LIN3's)
You can't notice in the pictures, but we ALWAYS take the extra time to utilize the "Sync" feature on all Whelen LEDs we install. On this vehicle, the 4 push bumper mounted LIN3's are "criss-cross" synched with the two Mirror Beam LEDs.
