May 20, 2002 - C-Comm 911 begins work on 16 new Police patrol vehicles for the City of Union City, Georgia! "We are extremely excited about this opportunity to serve the City of Union City Department of Public Safety - Police Bureau and our first big job." - John Carmichael, President/Owner
In November of 2001, C-Comm 911 contacted the City of Union City Department of Public Safety Police Bureau to set up a sales meeting. The first meeting led to several more meetings including the opportunity to place a bid for the outfitting of 16 new police patrol vehicles the department was about to purchase. We submitted our bid and shortly after that were awarded the bid. The department selected the 2002 Chevrolet Impala for their new patrol vehicles. The Impala's are equipped with the Chevrolet OEM "9C1 Police Package." Here are the specifications for their emergency light/sound package the department selected:
This lightbar is the latest and greatest in Whelen lightbars! The lightbar consists of 8 strobes, halogen take down and alley lights, two front facing blue L.E.D. flashers, two rear facing blue L.E.D. flashers, and two rear facing amber L.E.D. flashers.
This is Whelen's top of the line light and siren control center. This unit features a 3 position slide "pursuit" switch for most of the lightbar functions as well as 6 additional push button switches for the other lighting functions. The siren is capable of 200 watts of sound, however, the Department opted for one siren speaker.
There are two hide-a-way strobes mounted in the front turn signals and are powered by a Whelen two outlet strobe power supply.
We installed a 14" Havis Shields equipment console that houses the following components; map light with two accessory cigar outlets, Motorola Radius M1225 Mobile radio, Whelen WS295HFSA5 siren/switch center, and an arm rest.
As stanndard in all police vehicles, we installed a Setina prisoner transport partition.
We installed the Motorola radio, programmed it, and installed a 1/4 wave UHF permanent mount antenna.
We designed, cut, and installed a new graphics package to go with the "new look" of the vehicles.
Again, as standard in most police vehicles, we installed a Go-Rhino model # 5080 push bumper.
